Top 10 Soccer Players of 2017

Soccer has been around for 3 thousand years and has become the world’s #1 played sport! The past few years Cr7, Messi, Neymar, Marcelo, Suarez, etc. have been taking over the soccer industry.  With their amazing skills they rose up to be the greatest players.

    Lionel Messi, who joined Barcelona in October 2004, is the all-time La Liga leader in goals scored (349), assists (137), goals scored in La Liga season (50), goals in club Europe (73) and in a calendar year (91). He has won 29 trophies during his 13 seasons at Barcelona, including eight La Liga champions and four Champions League crowns. He has also won the Ballon d’or 5 times and has a record tying 4 European Golden Shoes.

    Cristiano Ronaldo: He joined RMA in July 4th 2009, he lead RMA to 2 La Liga titles (2012,2017) , 2 Copa del Rey (2011,2014), & 3 Champions League Trophies (2014,2016, 2017), 5 Ballon d’or (2008,2013,2014,2016,2017), he’s been named the FIFPro World XI in 10 consecutive seasons. His numbers are incredible too, total of 394 matches in 8 seasons at Real Madrid, he scored 406 goals & in 265 matches in La Liga appearances he scored 285 goals.

3.  Luis Suarez: joined Barcelona in July 11th 2014, he’s one of the goalscorers, in 3 seasons he scored 121 goals in 174 matches, in 2015-16 in his brilliant campaign in which he scored 40 goals in 35 La Liga contest & 59 goals in 53 appearances. He was able to win the Premier League Golden Boot, be named the FWA Footballer of the year (2014), was on the Champions League Team of the season twice (2015,2016), & won the FIFPro World XI in 2016.

4.  Antoine Griezmann: joined Atlético Madrid in July 29,2014, he’s been tear over the past few years, he secured himself as one of the premier players in the world. In 3 seasons with Atlético Madrid, he has scored 83 goals in 160 total appearances, he finished 3rd in voting for the Ballon d’Or in 2016, was named La Liga’s best player, was named to UEFA’s team of the year & was the Champions League Team of the Season. He led the French national team to the final in at Euro 2016, & led the competition with 6 goals, winning the golden Boot, despite extra loss to Portugal, Griezmann was rightly named Player of the Tournament, at just 26, Griezmann is shooting up to this list in his prime, while largely thought of as a goal-scorer- with a howitzer of a shot off his left foot.

5.  Neymar: he transferred to Barcelona in 2013 but then later left in September of 2017 to play for Paris Saint-Germain. The 25 year old soccer player is very talented, he’s very skilled at dribbling the ball, he might also be the best passer. When he was in Barcelona he scored 105 goals in 186 total appearances,  during the 2014-15 campaign he was steller, scoring 39 in 51 appearances, & he followed up with 31 goals in 49 showings in 2015-16. He helped Barcelona win 2 La Liga titles (2015, 2016), 3 straight Copa del Rey trophies (2015, 2016, 2017), & a Champions League crown (2015).

6.  Leonardo Bonucci: joined Juventus in 2010, than later around July he leaves Juventus to play for AC Milan. While he was playing with Juventus he led them to 6 consecutive Serie A titles, he won 3 Italian Cup Championship & he’s reached the Champions League final twice in the last 3 years. Bonucci was named the Serie A Team of the Year (2015, 2016), he was the Serie A player of the year in (2016), he was also on UEFA’s Team of the Year (2016) & was named the to the Champions League Team of the Season for 2016-2017. Leonardo is not only an amazing defender but he’s also an amazing passer, he has the ability to change the games by finding teammates in small “windows”, for example, he’s 50-yard assists from Euro 2016 against Belgium.

7.  Marcelo Vieira: joined RMA in 2007, the 29th year old defender has just finished his 11th season at RMA & finished it winning his fifth La Liga, third La Liga Champions league title & was named to the Champions League Team of the Season for the 2nd straight year. As for his individual awards, he was on the FIFA World Cup Dream Team in 2014, the FIFPro World XI four times (2012, 2015, 2016, 2017), the ESM Team of the Year the last two seasons, La Liga’s Team of the Season for 2015-16. His aggressively in the field often causes him to get in trouble but Brazil & RMA can rely on him going forward & defending, he shows up to every match & makes magic happen once he steps on the field.


8.  Manuel Neuer: he joined Bayern Munich in July 1st 2011. Bayern has won 5 titles with Neuer, & Germany took home the 2014 World Cup with him as goalkeeper. Manuel has also won some of his own awards, such as, UEFA Goalkeeper of the Year four times (2011, 2013, 2014, 2015), IFFHS’s World’s Best Goalkeeper four times (2013, 2014, 2015, 2016), a World Cup Golden Glove (2014), & three- straight Bundesliga Team of the Year, he also finished 3rd for the Ballon d’Or in 2014.

9.  N’Golo Kante: he joined Chelsea in 2016, he was a sensation after the 2015-16 campaign at Leicester City, the defensive midfielder got a spot in Chelsea for 2016-17. He won his 2nd consecutive Premier League title, while he was at Leicester, he single dominated The Blues, he was named Premier League Player of the Year for his amazing skills & effort. The 26 year old is making his way up to the top, with back-to-back titles & back-to-back appearances on the PFA Team of the Year, he’s being recognized as a world class player. He’s an amazing passer with next-level vision, but he is a true defensive midfielder who covers an unbelievable amount ground. He’s also a fantastic tackler with astonishing timing & he controls the whole pitch while he’s on it.

10.  Robert Lewandowski: he joined Bayern Munich in July 9,2014, he scored 110 goals in 147 appearances, that followed four years at Borussia Dortmund where he scored 103 in 187 matches. He’s the best pure goal scorer in the Bundesliga, & with Bayern he’s scored 77 times in 96 league matches. Robert was the 2016-17 Bundesliga player of the year as he had 43 goals in 47 total appearances for Bayern, he’s also been named to his league’s team of the year in three straight campaigns, & Champions League Team of the Year in two straight years.

The world of soccer has changed over the years, but it still brings people all over the world together. Over 3.2 billion people watch the FIFA World Cup on their television. Which is your favorite?
