We Need Better Lunch

If I were to ask you what is your favorite meal here at Northwest middle school you would probably say either chicken nuggets, chicken sandwiches, or meatballs because those are really the only meals they serve at lunch.  I wanted to know if I was the only one that felt like this so I sat down with a couple of seventh graders to get their opinion on what they think about Northwest school lunch.

"My favorite meal here at northwest middle school is chicken nuggets, because their good.’’ Darrelle Bagley said. But Erionna Jones felt differently saying, "I don’t like the food here at Northwest, because it don’t taste right." We are being served the same menu as last year minus a few items. Most people don’t like the fact that, that is happening. "I don’t like that northwest middle school is serving their lunch over and over again, because I would like to try a variety of different foods," Darrelle said.

Darelle was more understanding of why they don’t serve a variety of foods. "Northwest might not serve different lunch meals, because some people are allergic to different stuff like peanut butter & nuts so everybody got to eat the same thing." Darrelle said.   But Erionna….. not so much! "They would not serve different meals because they would have stopped it from last year & we are still getting the same food”. Erionna said.

My little sister goes to Banneker Elementary school and she is always talking about how they get different lunch meals everyday and that’s just not fair. What will it take to change the lunch menu? I don’t know, but hopefully our voice matters.
