πŸ†πŸ’― Triple Double Russell πŸ€πŸ“

By: Antoine Gillom

31.9, 10.4, 10.6 are the numbers of the the triple double machine…. Russell Westbrook who has recently been on a roll.

Russell Westbrook was born November 12, 1988 in Long Beach, California. He was a part of the UCLA Bruins and earned third-team all conference honors in pac 12. He was selected 4th overall pick in 2008 NBA draft by the Seattle Supersonics which became the Oklahoma city Thunder (OKC). Westbrook also represented the USA team 2 times. One in 2010, and one in 2012 which both were gold medals. In 2013 he had a bad injury but returned and along with Durant he lead OKC to a 3-1 lead over Golden State in the 2016 Western Conference Finals. It looked like it was going to be their year but they ended up losing the series to the Warriors, who oddly enough lost a 3-1 lead over the Cavs in the finals.

His partner Kevin Durant then left in free agency to go to the Golden State Warriors (GSW). It was then that Russell began putting in the work to be what everyone thought he could be…..an MVP! In 2017 Russell finally got recognized and got into the MVP discussion. Russell Westbrook ended up doing what the so called “King” could not do and averaged a triple-double for the season. he was the only one who broke Oscar Robertson single-season record for the most triple-doubles in a season with 42.  He also lead the league in scoring.

Although Russell has not gotten a ring or MVP yet he is  apart of a very small group of 2 to have averaged a triple double (Oscar Robertson is the other. If you ask me that’s good enough to get anMVP and a hall of fame consideration! Do you think so?
