What’s black and gold and consistently reached the top 10? Northwest Cross Country team is who! During their season they showed their full potential and they showed how hard they work in practice.

Northwest’s Cross Country team has great runners and they keep an amazing pace. They did very good in their 1st meet. “I felt nervous because I wasn’t used to running in front of people.” said Pedro Garcia, a 7th grader at Northwest Middle School and a former cross country runner. Different schools have different types of runners. Some might be really fast and they can keep their pace and while others like to take their time. “Only 2 schools were a challenge for me, which was Central and Coronado because both of them have fast people” Pedro said.

There are a lot of things that a person can love about Cross Country.  Some people think it’s a great sport that helps with cardio. “We get to run a lot and our legs get stronger.” Pedro said.  People also have different ways of becoming a better runner. Some run miles, others work on exercise for their legs. “In practice we run 3 miles and we try to get less time every time we run.” Pedro said

During their amazing season, the cross country team stalked their prey and took them all down one by one. Northwest Tigers showed their strength and ability and can’t wait to see what they have to offer next season!
