What’s
black and gold dominates basketball and still makes time for hair, style, and
makeup? If you said the Lady Basketball
Tigers then you were right! The lady tiger’s dominated their way to a record of
8-0 and finished in 1st place in the KCKL.
The
lady tiger’s have devoured every team that stood in their way. They had West
for breakfast, Rosedale for lunch, Central for an afternoon snack, Sumner,
Eisenhower and Coronado for a three-course dinner, and they topped that off
with Arrowhead for dessert.
Donique
Coty 8th grader at Northwest middle school believed in this team
from the beginning. She said, “The girls
will be undefeated this year. They share the ball very well. They are the best
of the best.” Kendell Anderson 8th grader at Northwest middle school
said “The girls basketball team will probably be better than our up coming
boy’s team because the girls know how to share the ball, they play good, and
they are a good team.” This statement is true for both our 8th grade
Lady Tigers as well as what we refer to as our ‘Cubs’, the 7th grade
Lady Tigers. So they will be ready to continue the job next year.
We
are proud of our lady tigers for representing Northwest middle school well. This
is amazing because the girl basketball team hasn’t finish first in a long time.
This victory was every Tiger because the entire school wanted this undefeated
record just as bad as we did. This season shows all of KCK that Northwest has
overcome all stereotypes. We excel
academically, athletically, and behaviorally. Northwest might have started at
the bottom, but now we’re here.
You are right to put the Lady Tigers in the spotlight. I am a lover of good writing and your piece fits that description! I love your "breakfast, lunch, and dinner" metaphors, Tynica!!! I also appreciate you saying that the team's victory belongs to the whole school! The lead sentence is THE BEST!!!!!! I can't wait to read your next offering!

ReplyDeleteOur Girls Basketball Team had a great season. We all had to work together as a team and have great attitudes even through the rough times we had.
