🎀🚫 Don’t Play ▶️️ Stay Away 🚫🎀

By: Jayme Thompson

Kodak Black, Lil Uzi Vert, and 21 Savage are all familiar names right? But WHERE did they come from? I swear they popped up out of the blue, all at once. And now everyone’s like 21,21,21, #FreeKodak!!! Like who is that! If you are as clueless as I was, read this article to find out who these mysterious rappers and why you shouldn’t listen to them.

First let’s start with a brief history of these rappers. Dieuson Octave (Kodak Black) was born on June 11, 1997. His parents were immigrants from Haiti and he grew up in the projects. When he was a little boy he came up with the name Black so when he started rapping he chose the stage name Kodak Black. Kodak Black previously got out of prison which explains the whole #freekodak thing.

Symere Woods (Lil Uzi Vert) was born in Philadelphia July 31, 1994. Don Cannon noticed his superb rapping skills so he also got signed along with Kodak to Atlantic Records. This 22 year old was on the rise. He would then drop multiple mixtapes and a song with Future. He was also featured on the popular song Bad and Boujee with the Migos.

Shayaa Bin Abraham-Joseph (21 Savage) was born in Atlanta, Georgia on October 22, 1992. 21 Savage released two mixtapes called “The Slaughter Tape” and “Slaughter King”. I think he likes knives maybe… Later on he signed with Epic Records on January 18, 2017. FUN FACT TIME!!!! This savage was expelled from middle school for gun possession. Well… isn’t that fun (sarcasm).

All of these rappers promote guns and murder. I mean, can’t you rap about something else to get attention. Take Drake for instance. He rapped about his feelings and guess what, he is ‘SUPA’ famous. Do you know how many people he has worked with? Do your own thing but just try not to influence bad things, try to influence good. I think that they do have talent, it’s just that they influence bad things. Would you want your little sister or brother, niece, or nephew listening to this? I think not.

Ultimately, in my opinion these rappers are bad for us and we shouldn’t be listening to them. If you want to keep your innocence intact then I give you fair warning! I know I know, who am I to tell you what to do, I’m just a 12 year old girl who sleeps until 12:00pm on the weekend, and  has watched 255 episodes of Criminal Minds (#Don’tJudgeMe). Just know though, listening to music about guns and murder aren’t going to boost your grades or help get you into college. Therefore youngins, ‘Don’t Play Stay Away’.
