Music & Its Connection to You

By: Antionette Carter

“Music is a language that doesn’t speak in particular words. It speaks in emotions, and if it’s in the bones, it’s in the bones.” - Keith Richards

Music can make you feel so many feelings at once you can feel anger, pleasure, gloomy and so many other emotions.  “Hip-Hop makes me feel positive and puts me in a good mood.” said Erieyonna Millbrooks 7th grade student at Northwest Middle School .  Music ties into so many feelings and everybody has a certain song they want to listen to because it makes them feel a certain way.
What you listen to makes you who you are so if you want to be positive or in a positive mood and mindset you have to listen to positive music.  There are artist out there that only make music that sends a positive message.  “Sabrina Carpenter’s music doesn't represent violence or putting other people down she always sends a positive message.”  Erieyonna said. Nobody should listen to upsetting music if that's not what they want to feel. It they listen to uplifting music that would put them in high spirits.
Music determines how you feel because those words are the thoughts that are getting put into your head.  Sometimes they intentionally make you feel a certain way. “The artist wants you to feel sad because that's how you connect to their music.”  Erieyonna said. Connection means a lot in music if you don't connect with the song or the artist you probably won't listen to it. That's why most of the time the artist usually puts out music that would connect with a lot of people or music that makes you feel good and gets your blood pumping.

Music does so many good deeds for you. Music can heal a broken heart and can mend a sad soul. How it does that is it gets those angry, sad or depressed emotions  that are balled up inside and brings them out and lets them free. I can prove this to you if you do one little simple thing, for the next 3 or 4 days listen to a new genre or a new song and see the different ways music influences you.
