CPU Later: A Look at How Technology is Replacing Our Need For Social Interaction

By: Julia Macias

"Are we beginning to choose the company of technology over the company of other human beings?" Megan C said.

Technology is impacting the lives of others. People are starting to depend on technology for almost everything. According to an article it states "People don't remember information, they depend on their phones..." people are beginning to think that they will always have their phones and they think that when they need something all they will do is pull out their phones for the information but what if your phone is off or there is no internet ? All you have is yourself . people need to depend on themselves rather than on technology.

On the other side, Technology is a splendid thing. Technology can bring families and friends together. According to "technology can have positive and negative impact on social interactions" it states "some researchers suggest that spending a limited amount of time watching wholesome programs can strengthen families and friendship." If you're going to watch t.v. , why not watch it with your family or friends ? watching your favorite show with your family is great . you get to spend time with your family and maybe even get to talk about things.

Then again, what if your family isn't always with you and you want to talk to them ? According to an article its states " ...I now notice more and more that smartphone is replacing face to face communication." you often get busy and are not able to see your family as much. You of course have your phone with you and you can text them or call them which means you don't have to worry about meeting up with your family but when you get the time to meet up with them you don't find it necessary to meet up because you have your phone that you can use to text them, call them or to facetime them. This happens to many people but at some point you're going to regret not seeing your family because your family is your most precious thing in life. Talking on the phone, texting and facetiming is not the same thing as being with that person.

In conclusion, technology has impacted the lives of people. It can make people forget information , bring families together and replace face to face communication.
