So as you may know there’s traditions or festivals you probably didn’t know existed all over the world. There are a lot of traditions that seems really bizarre to the world where it is not followed.Here is a list of 5 traditions you probably didn’t expect and that are still observed around the world.
1)Baby Throwing India- In the last 500 years india has thrown babies off a temple 50ft high, catching them in a cloth.It takes place in the first week of December it is believed to bring health,prosperity,and luck to new arrivals.www.rationalitynow.com
2)Finger Cutting of Dani Tribe- When a person in Dani tribe passes away,a relative like wife or husband cuts off his/her hand fingers and they bury them together with the dead body.It’s a symbol of expressing their love to someone.
3)Bathroom Ban-Weddings- In the Indonesian Tidong community have traditions that are truly unique.The groom isn’t allowed to see the bride’s face until he sings several love songs to her.Though the weirdest of them all is that the bride and the broom aren’t allowed to use the bathroom for 3 days.They believe that if you don’t practice the 3 day ritual it would bring bad luck to the couple. www.odditycentral.com
4)Burying a Yanomami- Funerals for dead relatives are very important in Yanomami tribe(Venezuela and Brazil).When a Yanomami dies the body is burned and the ash and bone powder is mixed into a plantain soup.The people then drink the soup,consisting of the dead person ash and bone.They believe that by drinking the remains of a body their spirit will live with them forever. www.smashinglists.com
5)La Tomatina- The biggest tomato fight in the world.It is held in the Valencian town of Buñol, Spain.On the last Wednesday of August, the participants throw tomatoes and get involved in this tomato fight purely for fun.Many people from around the world go just to join in the fight.
You probably think that what your family does at christmas is a bit weird, but I promise you that’s nothing compared to these unbelievably bizarre traditions from around the world.And there’s probably many more with many people traveling around the world for sure many more will get discovered.
