Black🏈 and😎 Yellow🏈

Who do you know that has a lot of talent and swagger on the field and is all about that black and gold? Northwest middle school that’s who! The Tigers recently did something that no other team has done in Coach/Mr. Smith’s era so far. We went 6-0!!

In his era he has had some ups and some downs  but we made up for all the bad and good records. His very first year as an assistant in 09’ they went 0-5-1. The team improved a lot the next year going 3-3 but struggled the year after going 1-5. Coach Smith’s first year as head coach in 2012 was tough as they lost every game except the final to finish 1-5 again. After that, the Tigers went from worst to 1st as they tied for best record in the city with a record of  5-1. After two offensive record breaking years that finished with a record of 4-2 and two, it was time to set the record straight. Finally the 2016 Tigers delivered Coach Smith’s 1st UNDEFEATED football season as our tigers went 6-0.  We did it for coach because we felt like he deserved it for all the times that people have threw shade and talked trash, but now what?

This year we averaged 38 points per game as we smashed everyone beating Sumner first, 38-20 to take the win. “Well being the Offensive Coordinator that's amazing. We were able to score any time we wanted” said Coach Smith Northwest middle school head coach. The next team we played was Rosedale. We beat them 42-0 as that was our first shut out of the season. The 3rd game we played was a little rough and dirty but not only do we play pretty ball but we play rough and smart too, as we blew by West M.S 46-6. The next game we played was kind of a rivalry game against Arrowhead. But we pulled through it and took it from them as we smashed them 41-18. These last two games were important  because this was our shot to get to that 6-0 point. We smacked Central 34-0 for the second shut out. Then came the game that everyone had been waiting for 7 weeks, the game against Eisenhower. This game was rough and physical but we pulled through it and beat them 35-6 to take all 6 of the W’s and go undefeated in this journey to success. “I feel really good about it. It took a lot of hard work so it felt awesome to finally go undefeated.” Coach Smith said.

“Day by day we get better and better ‘til we can't be beat, won't be beat, tigers on three; 1, 2, 3 TIGERS!!! This became the Tiger Creed back in 2012 when Coach Smith became Head Coach.  We said before and after every game and in 2016 it has finally come to pass.
