4. Menudo: Menudo is a common weekend breakfast for the typical Mexican family. Menudo is a slow cooked stew. The beef is first cooked for 5-6 hours in condimented broth. In the more northern states the menudo is topped with oregano for flavor. Towards the south, they mostly add cilantro. In all of Mexico they add “limon” ( lime) and cevolla (chopped onion).
3. Chili relleno: This dish has that is very delicious and very commonly made in a Mexican household. The making of this starts with a chili poblano which is a somewhat large green chili. The chili is then grilled on a stove top. Once the chili is perfectly cooked it is coated in whipped egg whites. Then after that, it is covered in flour and is then pan fried and ready to eat.
2.Tortas: Tortas are like a Mexican sandwich. The “torta” is started with a very soft popular bread called a Bolillo. The “Bolillo” is cut in half and is stuffed with meats, sauces, and vegetables of your choice. It is simple yet so good!
1.Tacos: Tacos are an all day food. It can be eaten in the morning for breakfast or as a midnight snack. The one thing I dislike the most is when people call taco bell real tacos! They are not real tacos! Tacos are not supposed to be made with soft corn tortillas not hard shells. Tacos are made with a corn tortilla folded half way around a meat of choice. My personal favorite tacos are tacos de barbacoa which are beef based. They are then topped with cilantro and cevolla (onion). Salsa and limon (lime) is optional. Please do not get confused with taco bell and real Mexican tacos.
Mexico is rich in culture. They have many amazing creations. As well as traditions and music. One of Mexico’s strengths as you can tell is food! Let me know in the comments which one of Mexico’s foods made your mouth water the most!
