Royals Season Preview

You probably have seen or heard of the Kansas City Royals. They are the Kansas City baseball team. Their season is about to begin and they are starting off better than ever!

They have had a great spring training so far. They haven’t lost in 5 games straight. So far, they have won 7 games, ties 2 games and have lost 3 games. They want to win this season because they want to make Yordano Ventura proud. Yordano Ventura was a member of the Kansas City Royals. He unfortunately died at the age of 25 in a car crash while he was on vacation in Dominican Republic. He died this year on January 22. This was very hard news on the Royals but they want to make him proud.

The team was founded as an expansion franchise in 1969, and has participated in four World Series, winning in 1985 and 2015, and losing in 1980 and 2014. It really surprised everyone that they made it to the World Series two years in a row. The KC Royals is also known as the “Blue Crew”. They have won the Central division only one time in 2015 and has won West division title 6 times in 1976, 1977, 1978, 1980, 1984 and in 1986!

The Kansas City Royals are named after the American Royal. The American Royal is where the many events are held such as a livestock show, horse show, rodeo, and championship barbecue competition that is held annually in Kansas City since 1899. The club was founded be a man named Ewing Kauffman. Their home stadium is called the Kauffman Stadium because of the founder. Sometimes they even call the Kauffman Stadium, “The K”. The Kansas City Royals currently play in the American League and in the Central division.
