“Wanting to be someone else
is a waste of the person you are.” –Marilyn Monroe.
Some people may feel like
they’re an outcast or different than everyone, which makes them change who they
are at times in order to fit in. But you don’t have to change who you are to be
accepted. Here are 5 ways to be “in” while still being you.
· Show the
Truth- This is one of the most
important things about being your self. Every person has a different
personality. You may be loud and outgoing or quiet and shy. But on the other
hand, all of your friends may have the opposite personality as you. Don’t
pretend to be anyone your not!
· Like What
You Like- You can like any type
of music, food or fashion. Just because the people around you don’t like what
you do doesn’t mean you shouldn’t.
· #ButThat’sNoneOfMyBusiness-Who cares if people talk about you? It doesn’t matter
if people have something negative to say about you. As long as you’re secure in
your personality that’s all that matters. Don’t listen to the rumors and lies.
When people talk about you behind your back they’re probably jealous of you and
what you have.
· Stay
Positive- If you are hanging
around negative people who always put you down or are always being mean to you,
put more positivity in your life.
· Confidence
Is Key- Another way to be you is
by being confident. Don’t shy away from other people. It will make you seem
anti-social and depressed. Create your own fashion sense, and be confident in
it. And always smile; smiling will make people notice you more.
You don’t have
to try to be anyone other than yourself. If people don’t accept you the way you
are, SO WHAT! The only thing that matters is liking who you are. According to
Essential Life Skills.net “Many young people believe that when they do things
to please their peers, such as drink when they shouldn’t or behave and party in
inappropriate ways, they will be popular and liked.” But, in reality, it’s when
you are true to yourself that you allow your individuality and uniqueness to
shine through. I promise to be me! Can you promise to be you?
