๐Ÿ˜ ๐Ÿ˜‘141.4 Million Cheated By Hospitals!๐Ÿ˜ฎ๐Ÿ˜ก

By: Guadalupe Campos Soto

Do hospitals really have to be so expensive? Surprisingly they don’t. They have been lying to us this whole time!

Even though the hospital is very expensive, it’s worth it right?? We get the best treatment right?? WRONG!! The United States doesn't even have the best hospital treatment in the world. In Google’s public data they graph that the average lifespan in Japan is 83.84 years, meanwhile, in the U.S. we are expected to live only about 78.74 years. (Other countries like the U.K. even have FREE medical care!!) Then why do we have to pay such outrageous amounts of money for medical care that isn’t even the best?? Well I’ll tell you why!! The hospitals have made up another way to make money!!๐Ÿ˜

We already know that the world is corrupted by money and will do anything to get more. Now what is even more crazy is that people even rip off people in need! Hospitals are supposed to help you right and you trust they will do so right? They use that trust that you give them and use it against you with the help of the “Chargemaster”! Doctors come in wanting to help but then charge ridiculous amounts for simple procedures and no one questions them because we trust that they know what they are doing. They sure know what they are charging you because they follow whatever their chargemaster tells them to.

The truth is we have been scammed this whole time!!  In each hospital their chargemaster says different prices for medical equipment and procedures. In the episode “Adam ruins the hospital” from the series of “Adam ruins everything,” Adam explains that hospital equipment isn’t as expensive as it seems. They give an example of many things such as an IV bag costing $1 but the hospital charges you $50 instead because that’s what their “Chargemaster” tells them to charge you.

We have trusted hospitals for decades and then they manipulate us like this. “They save lives” said 7th grader Antonio. Hospitals do save lives and deserve that credit but the way they have manipulated our trust is just wrong. “They are getting paid way too much” said Gisselle Jurado. For children under 18 it is easy to get insurance but from 19+ it gets harder to keep paying for their protection. Insurance companies are charging more and more for their protection. But the worst part is that if you don’t have insurance, then you have to pay the ridiculous prices out of your own pocket.

Each day people with power find terrible ways to make life better for themselves with money. They do whatever they can to get their hands on more. Now they even target less fortunate people. The one way that we can help against this fraud is by comparing prices. We can compare prices and always have a prefered hospital where they charge less. Therefore, there is hope. Always be aware of what is really happening around you. Let me know in the comments what you think of this scam.
