Picture this. You’re sitting in your neighbor’s garage. Boxes of junk surround you while you jump around performing a song for 5 people and before you know it, it’s 5 million. You stare at the crowd in amazement as you watch people bob their head to music you created and worked hard on. This is exactly what happened to the group ‘The 1975’ continue reading to learn more about their road to success.
‘The 1975’ is a band heavily influenced by emo and alternative rock music. Although Matthew Healy (lead vocalist and guitarist) is unsure of what genre his band is “known for” most people enjoy the staccato bursts of pop and smooth vocals. They recently released their second album ‘I Like It When You Sleep For You Are So Beautiful Yet So Unaware Of It’. The album dominated the charts and went straight to the #1 spot.
They began playing together at age 15 in 2002. After playing covers in bars and school gigs they named themselves ‘THE 1975’ inspired by scribbles found in an old school book. They sang covers up until 2013 when they wrote a couple of songs and released them to the public. ‘The 1975’ went from covering songs, to performing in bars and then performing for millions people around the world and just like that they become one of the top up and coming groups in today’s culture.
I like how hard you worked on this article. I found it rather interesting. I really liked it. keep up the good work!!! Best wishes
